The Kentucky Society of Washington's 40th Annual Pre-Derby Party

It is once again time to gather with your favorite Kentuckians and friends to celebrate Kentucky traditions and the most exciting 2 minutes in sports! We are very excited to be returning to the traditional Pre-Derby format the weekend before Derby, and in a new historic venue. We look forward to celebrating all things Derby with our fellow Kentuckians and friends!!

Put on your Derby best and join us starting at 1pm for southern foods, Maker's Mark mint juleps, live bluegrass music from King Street Bluegrass, our annual hat contest, and so much more!

Your ticket includes entry into the event, unlimited catered food offerings, and for those 21+ unlimited beer, wine, and Maker's Mark mint juleps!

Who may purchase tickets to the Kentucky Derby Party?

Members of the Kentucky Society of Washington are eligible to purchase tickets to the Pre-Derby party. If you're not already a member, it's easy to join! Just visit our website and follow the prompts to pay your 2023 dues. Keep in mind that the Pre-Derby Party is made possible by members of the Society volunteering their time.

What are the ticket prices and schedule?

Members may buy tickets for our early bird price of $90 from March 17-March 24 (EXTENDED TO MARCH 27). Starting March 25, general member tickets will go on sale for $100. If capacity allows, we will sell non-members tickets beginning April 15 for $150.

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

If you plan to drink alcohol, you must be 21 years of age or older, and will be asked to present a valid ID at the door in order to obtain an "over 21" band and be served alcohol.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

NEW VENUE! Our new venue is located conveniently in downtown Washington, DC. The nearest metro stops are Farragut West (orange, silver and blue lines) and Farragut North (red line). There is ample street parking near the venue as well as some parking garages in the neighborhood. Consider using Spot Hero for realtime updates on parking availablity.

We strongly encourage utlizing public transportation or ridesharing (such as Uber/Lyft/taxis) to attend the event.

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

Yes! We encourage you to purchase tickets for and invite your friends - just make sure your guests have obtained their tickets from you prior to arrival at the Pre-Derby Party.

What if it rains?

The Pre-Derby party will be held RAIN OR SHINE! There is plenty of space inside or under the tent if there is rain.
